HomeServe USA has announced an agreement with American Electric Power that should lead to the opportunity of providing service plans to 3.7 million households located in AEP territories across 11 states. The new program will begin with an offer for the Exterior Electric Line service plan to the more than 1.5 million AEP customers in Ohio. Customers in Ohio will be receiving additional information in the mail over the next few weeks.
HomeServe’s Exterior Electric Line service plans offer homeowners protection against the expense and inconvenience of repairs to the home’s exterior electrical components that connect to the AEP electric system. This can include repairs to the weatherhead, riser pipe, insulators, meter base and service entrance cable. These repairs can be costly and are not typically covered by basic homeowners insurance. HomeServe plan holders will have access to a Repair Hotline that is accessible 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to bring local, licensed, and insured electricians right to their home for repairs. The plan costs $4.99 a month.
HomeServe is already an established service provider in Ohio, providing coverage to 114,000 Ohio homeowners holding 175,000 service plans. AEP homeowners will also have access to other HomeServe service plans, including for interior electrical lines, heating and cooling systems and water heater repairs. These service plans are available for AEP Ohio customers to purchase via a special website www.OHelectricalprotectionplan.com and over the phone at 1-855-769-6267. AEP will begin offering HomeServe plans to its customers located in other state service territories later this year.
