Russ noticed this dangerous installation near a tree. Someone thought it was acceptable to extend a run of UF cable up a tree and attach a cord connector to the end of it. They then secured the connection with electrical tape. UF cable cannot be exposed to physical damage, as per Sec. 340.12(10) of the 2020 NEC. In addition, the cord connector used here is not designed to be attached to the UF cable.

Russ is also an IAEI certified Electrical Inspector.
