Like many aging facilities across the country, the Pacific Tower of Seattle was facing a common challenge. The problem? As detailed in a recent case study by BetterBricks, the older systems of the iconic building were inefficient and failing to meet the needs of its occupants. After the Washington Department of Commerce signed a 30-year lease to take over Pacific Tower, the team wanted to bring the building into the modern era by improving its energy conservation measures and the lighting experience. To make this improvement, the team decided that Luminaire level lighting controls (LLLCs) were the ideal choice to meet their goals. According to the case study, after the installation of LLLCs, the building now has an 80% energy savings compared to the previous system, and its energy use is 27% better than Seattle’s progressive energy code. Thanks to the new LLLC system, the historic building was brought into the present.
