At a career fair at Ohio University, Blake Scipio discovered opportunities at Mid-City Electric and in the electrical industry. Scipio, who earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering technology and management and a minor in business, was immediately attracted to the level of planning and problem-solving required to execute at a high level.

Born and raised in Hillard, Ohio, Scipio graduated four years ago, and was hired on as an assistant project manager at Mid-City Electric following graduation.

“I was able to become familiar with running projects, both large and small, from estimate to project close-out,” Scipio says.

Today, he participates in classes and seminars through the Builders Exchange of Central Ohio and makes an effort to learn something new every day. Due to his drive and leadership, he was promoted to a project manager and estimator at Mid-City Electric just 18 months after his start date.

Presently, his company is working on high-profile projects in central Ohio and maintains relationships with hospitals, local universities, and various high-rises. He is now serving as the project manager for a mega project in central Ohio.

“His desire to learn, coupled with his drive to succeed, and his ability to communicate well with team members makes him invaluable,” says Kipp Criswell, director of field operations.

One of his favorite parts of his job is being able to work with the highly skilled electricians employed by Mid-City and helping them obtain the resources necessary to succeed.

“I am surrounded by a group of intelligent, hardworking individuals who push me to be the best person I can be each day,” Scipio says. “I am thankful for the ability to lean on my peers on a daily basis, allowing me to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to help our company and our industry succeed.”
