Monique Meuret aspired to study architecture, but while working as a receptionist at Rosendin, her career took a different direction. After learning more about the electrical industry, she switched her career path to work in computer modeling. Shortly after she took an AutoCAD class, she was brought into the BIM department for on-the-job training. Through her training, she learned the technicalities regarding what can be modeled and then constructed in the field.
Today, she assists her lead modeler with gathering details from the field and then modeling the requested content on projects such as medical and industrial manufacturing facilities. She also works in a software program to help prevent any clashes with other trades.
“Technology is extremely important because it allows us to be able to coordinate with the other trades to eliminate extra time and money from being spent on job sites,” says Meuret, who was born in Rio Rancho, N.M., and raised in Gilbert, Ariz.
In the next decade, she envisions herself in a management position with the BIM department.
“I plan on reaching these goals by continuing to work hard and learn as much as I can from current leadership,” Meuret says.
Tony Steele, Arizona BIM manager, says Meuret has excelled quickly and created consistency in her department.
“As the new year began, she took on a new role, and we see more of the same progression as she is rising above all expectations in the complicated BIM environment,” Steele says. “I look forward to watching her continue to grow with us as a leader in our department in the coming years.”
