Mark Freeh, who was born in Fishers, Ind., became the first person in his family to work in the construction industry. During the nine months prior to graduating with his bachelor’s degree in construction management engineering technology from IUPUI in Indianapolis, he worked in the field to get hands-on training.
“I always found construction very interesting,” Freeh says. “My college courses helped prepare me for the construction industry, and my field training helped prepare me specifically to get ready to work with Gaylor and be a top performer.”
As a project engineer for Gaylor Electric, Inc., he enjoys being a part of a team and engaging and collaborating with other project engineers. He is responsible for tasks ranging from job estimating to project field visits to observe and ask questions.
Currently, he is assisting with the design and remodel of the electrical components for the Fidelity Investment Building. Five years from now, he sees himself moving into a project manager position.
“It takes time and experience working on several projects to get to this level, but I plan on getting there as soon as I can,” Freeh says.
Project Engineer Chris Creek says Freeh has been instrumental in landing new, quality work for Gaylor Electric.
“He is a positive role model for the younger guys across the organization and leads by example,” Creek says. “Mark is a quick learner and a quality individual.”
