These states' additions totaled 21,010MW.

Despite the uncertainty brought on by the pandemic throughout 2020, the United States still witnessed a record year in terms of new clean power additions, including wind, utility solar, battery storage, and more with 26,490MW of new capacity online, according to the American Clean Power Association's (ACP) first Clean Power Annual report.

This gallery highlights the top 15 states in descending order based on capacity additions in megawatts for 2020. According to the ACP report, eight states added more than 1GW of clean power to the grid in 2020 — and each 1GW of additions was equal to $1.4 billion in investments. These 15 states' additions totaled 21,010MW, making up approximately 79% of the country's total new clean power capacity additions last year. Texas, which clinched the No. 1 spot in 2020, led by more than 4,000MW in clean power additions compared to the No. 2 ranked state on this list.
