Top 10 Highest-Paying Cities for Electricians

Sept. 23, 2020
Check out which cities rank the highest when it comes to compensation for electricians

One thing that seems to be fairly consistent with these top compensation lists is that they usually don't change all that much from year to year. That wasn't the case this time around, however. Although some of the highest-paying cities for electricians stayed the same since the last time data was analyzed, three new metropolitan areas from Illinois made their way to the top, solidifying five of the 10 spots! According to the latest numbers released from the Bureau of Labor Statistics in its "Occupational Employment and Wages, May 2019 Study," the San Francisco Bay area is still the highest-paying city for the electrician occupation at an average salary of $100,400 per year. Several other locations secured their spots from last year, including Trenton, N.J., New York City, and Chicago.

One factor to keep in mind is that cost of living is not taken into consideration, which definitely can make a difference. Click through this photo gallery to see what cities (listed in descending order) paid top dollar in 2019 to employ electricians.
