Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. (Griffin Electric) has recently completed the electrical installation work for a process upgrade at the South Cobb Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) in Austell, Ga. The upgrade of the South Cobb WRF consisted of new effluent filters, a secondary clarifier, a filtered effluent pump station, reuse water pump station, and plant recycle pump station necessary to maintain and insure compliance with effluent discharge limits. The plant automation and control system was upgraded and the electric service improved, in order to improve plant performance and reliability of the treatment processes.
Griffin Electric was responsible for assisting in the plant upgrades, which included installing transformers, variable frequency drives, and control panels. Additionally, the Griffin team built underground duct banks as part of their on-site work, installed electrical services for process equipment, and valves and gates retrofitted with actuators. Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC, Birmingham, Ala., served as the project’s general contractor, while Brown & Caldwell, Atlanta, served as the engineer, as well as construction manager for the project. “Our industrial experience is vast when it comes to wastewater treatment and reclamation facilities,” stated Wayne J. Griffin, president of Griffin Electric. “Although we have worked on many of these projects, we understand that each plant has its own unique workings and pay close attention to the details of the job in order to exceed the expectations of our client.”
