Lego building blocks are still popular among kids and many adults even in their basic, primary-color form. And Lego has added enhancements with moving, kinetic pieces. But now, kids can electrify their Lego creations with Brixo.

Brixo bricks safely conduct electricity and connect to your phone to enable you to do all sorts of cool things with your designs, according to the IndieGoGo site. BRIXO bricks include LED lights, motor blocks and sound, light and proximity sensors. They’re powered by a low-voltage, Bluetooth-controlled built-in battery brick and coated in chrome, a non-toxic metal, to ensure your safety.

They are fully compatible with Lego and interlock to produce complete simple circuits with no wires involved.

Israeli physicists came up with the idea and turned to crowdfunding, smashing their $50,000 goal within 24 hours, according to Israel 21c.

The designers give examples on the IndieGoGo site of how to set a phone’s alarm clock to shut off only when you build a pyramid out of BRIXO blocks, or build a nightlight that turns on when a child says a certain password.
