Two electric utility workers injured during routine substation maintenance are back to work

As reported in a recent post in Black Hills Pioneer, the cause of a recent power outage involving two Butte Electric employees in Spearfish, S.D., has been determined. The accident that caused the arc blast, which occurred during routine substation maintenance, occurred on December 18 and resulted in both workers being hospitalized for burns to their faces.

According to Butte Electric Collective, “as the two-man team was replacing a fuse to the substation’s switch base, the fuse slipped from the end of the extend stick they were using and became grounded.”
