Electrical Accident Kills Amtrak Maintenance Worker

Investigation looks into cause of explosion at substation near railyard in the Bronx

According to a recent report by WABC-TV in New York, an Amtrak maintenance worker, who was performing fuse work on a transformer, was killed on December 5 after an electrical accident caused an explosion at a substation near a railyard in the Parkchester section of the Bronx.

Two other workers suffered minor injuries as a result of the blast, and trains were delayed. Authorities hope to uncover more information in the investigation to follow as to why the victim thought the power was off yet the equipment was obviously energized.
