High-Profile Green Projects Power America

Aug. 18, 2020
Spotlight on some of the nation’s most innovative wind and solar projects

Wind turbines generate clean, green energy, and photovoltaic (PV) panels soak up the sun’s energy across America. As electric utilities look for ways to serve their customers with renewable energy, they are partnering with developers and renewable energy companies to build new solar and wind farms interconnected to the grid.

In the first quarter of 2020, construction activity on new wind farms reached a record-breaking 24,690MW under construction nationwide, according to the American Wind Energy Association. Solar also experienced a historically strong first quarter in 2020 with the installation of 3.6 GW of new capacity added, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association.

While the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made an impact on the renewable energy market — just as it has with many other electrical construction sectors — both solar and wind projects are still in the planning stages and coming online across America.

EC&M is highlighting 10 of these high-profile green projects to showcase the work going on throughout the United States. In addition to including land-based renewable projects, we are also highlighting offshore wind projects, which could pave the way for more offshore wind development nationwide.
