On the afternoon of Aug. 29, 2021, Hurricane Ida made landfall near Port Fourchon, La., as a Category 4 hurricane. The storm caused substantial damage to the electric grid and disrupted the oil and natural gas supply chain. After battering the South, Ida was downgraded to a tropical depression on Monday evening, August 30. Despite the downgrade, Ida continued to carve a path of deadly destruction across the Northeast. Thanks to New Orleans-based Entergy, which generates and distributes electric power to 2.9 million customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas, for supplying these pictures of some of the damage caused by Hurricane Ida.
