In Class II, Division I, hazardous (classified) locations, where provisions must be made for limited flexibility of wiring methods, which of the following wiring methods is not permitted?

A) Flexible cord listed for extra hard usage with an additional conductor for grounding and provided with listed bushed fittings
B) Liquidtight flexible nonmetallic conduit with listed fittings
C) Liquidtight flexible metal conduit with listed fittings
D) Flexible metal conduit with listed fittings
E) Interlocked armored Type MC cable with an overall jacket of suitable polymeric material and provided with termination fittings listed for Class II, Div. 1 locations

Answer: D

Explanation: Per a 2005 change, 502.10(A)(2) was revised to allow limited flexibility for the wiring methods listed in this section. This is now permitted in a Div. 1 location. Five methods are permitted, but flexible metal conduit—even with listed fittings—isn’t one of them.
