Transformers transfer electrical energy from one electrical circuit to another through electromagnetic induction, with no change in frequency. Like people, they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. They are used in power distribution systems to step the voltage down from 13.8kV to 480/277V or 120/240V or 120/208V. The design, installation, maintenance, and testing of these key pieces of equipment are crucial to the safe and reliable operation of a power system.
