Although technically not a state, the District of Columbia maintained its position for the second year in a row as the highest-paying area for electrical engineers based on 2020 data from the “Occupational Employment and Wages, May 2020 Study,” released from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). New Mexico fell off the list, with Vermont rejoining the top five rankings after a year off of it.
Here is a look at the rest of the top five highest-paying states for electrical engineers, listed in descending order. It's important to keep in mind that these rankings do not take cost of living into consideration.
