Telecommunications Association Seeking Input on Bonding and Grounding

Oct. 29, 2018
The group said revision is needed to incorporate an addendum, to update references and to harmonize with addendum to ISO/IEC 30129.

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), Arlington, VA, issued a call for interest in its guidelines that specify requirements for a generic telecommunications bonding and grounding infrastructure and its interconnection to electrical systems and telecommunications systems.

The group’s TR- 42.3 Engineering Committee Telecommunications Administration, Pathways, Spaces, Bonding and Grounding is calling for interest for document TIA-607-D initially titled “Generic Telecommunications Bonding and Grounding (Earthing) for Customer Premises.”

The group said revision is needed to incorporate an addendum, to update references and to harmonize with addendum to ISO/IEC 30129. This telecommunications industry standard may also be used as a guide for the renovation or retrofit of existing systems.

TIA is actively seeking interest from the user and general interest community. Stakeholders may include, but are not limited to architects, installers, building owners, electrical inspectors, electrical contractors, engineers, MEP firms, and telecommunications contractors, designers and consultants.

For more information about TR-42 and how to participate in standards development with TIA, contact Marta Soncodi at [email protected].
