    Hint: Fill 'er up!

How well do you know the Code? Think you can spot violations the original installer either ignored or couldn't identify? Here's your chance to moonlight as an electrical inspector and second-guess someone else's work from the safety of your living room or office. Joe Tedesco, who has a knack for finding shoddy electrical work, did the dirty work and found this mess. Now it's your turn to identify the violation.

    Find the Answer

Something tells me this electrical installation, located next to a gas station fuel pump, was never inspected. Do you think this cable popping up from an underground installation, the nonmetallic wiring methods used, and the strange connections meet the requirements of the NEC? I don’t think the installation meets the requirements of 514.1, which applies to motor fuel dispensing facilities, marine/motor fuel dispensing facilities, motor fuel dispensing facilities located inside buildings, and fleet vehicle motor fuel dispensing facilities.
