The Code allows you to install an equipment-bonding jumper inside or outside of a raceway or enclosure [250.102(E)]. If installed on the outside of the raceway, its length cannot exceed 6 ft, and you must route it with the raceway or enclosure. Although the length of this jumper does not exceed 6 ft, this piece of strapping iron (normally used for mechanical-type purposes) is no substitute for a properly sized conductor.
