ISU Offers Electrical Training Correspondence Course

In this issue (on page 34), EC&M begins covering a correspondence course in electrical, electronic, and computerized controls in a series of 12 monthly articles (Jan. to Dec. 1999). Involving readings, exams, and exercises, this Iowa State University course outline includes:
1. Application of Controls
2. Basic Wired Controls
3. Process Controls
4. Low-Voltage Controls
5. Programmed Controls
6. Distributed Intelligence Controls
7. Motor Controls
8. HVAC Control Wiring
9. Programmable Logic Controllers
10. Home Controls
11. Building Control Systems
12. Pneumatic Controls.
Each lesson includes tutorials, diagrams, wiring schematics and explanations, Code requirements (NEC), and practical applications. Students who successfully complete the course will be credited 6.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), receive a certificate of completion from the University, and have knowledge of control technologies. A general understanding of electrical wiring is necessary to take the course. The course application form is on page 35 (original article). The cost is $385.00, which includes cost of textbook.
