Top 40 Adds, Moves, and Changes

Overland Park, Kan.-based Black & Veatch (No. 6) launched infraManagement Group LLC, which focuses on assisting owners in the management of assets and provides support to non-utility owners of energy and water operations.

Lenexa, Kan.-based Henderson Engineers (No. 21) introduced a new specialty division, changed the name of a previous division, and launched new identities for all four of its divisions as part of a branding plan. The new commissioning division is called Outcome Cx, and Henderson Technology Group is now Collective Tech. These two divisions join Fire Dynamics and Impact Illumination to complete the specialty division lineup. In addition, the firm formed Concept 520, a sustainable consulting team, with Dustin Schafer, P.E., LEED AP, serving as the director of sustainability and John Sommers, P.E., LEED AP, serving as the director of sustainable design.

New York-based Parsons Brinckerhoff (No. 4) was acquired by Balfour Beatty, an international engineering, construction, professional services, and investment group, in October 2009 and is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Balfour Beatty. The firm also announced the appointment of George J. Pierson as the firm's CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2010. Pierson, former president and COO of the firm's Americas division, succeeded Keith J. Hawksworth, who became chairman.

Salt Lake City-based Spectrum Engineers (No. 37) moved to its new, energy-efficient headquarters in Salt Lake City. The firm is applying for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification for the new headquarters.

Edmonton, Canada-based Stantec (No. 5) completed the acquisition of Jacques Whitford, an environmental consulting services firm with more than 1,700 employees and 40 offices principally in Canada. The employees of Granary Associates, a Philadelphia- and New York-based firm with approximately 100 employees specializing in project management, planning, architecture, and interior design for health care facilities, joined with Stantec. In addition, Rich Allen was appointed the new COO of the company, effective Jan. 1, 2010. Paul Cellucci, David Emerson, and Robert Gomes were appointed as directors of the company.

New York-based STV (No. 10) launched STV Canada Consulting Inc. to provide services to the Canadian market. In addition to forming this new group, STV established its first Canadian office in Toronto, which will initially serve the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). The company also acquired Civil Structures, Inc., a Dallas-based bridge and highway design firm. The new group, called STV/Civil Structures, will continue to operate in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and become part of STV's Transportation & Infrastructure Division.
