Two separate incidents have resulted in five people being injured at a metals company in Alabama. The most recent occurred earlier this month at the Tennessee Alloys Company in Bridgeport, Ala. A man was shocked by a high-voltage transformer at the plant and flown with serious injuries to the hospital.
According to a report from WTVM ABC, the very next day there was a transformer explosion at the plant that injured four more people. They were also taken to the hospital and treated for smoke inhalation.
“Actually, we went up on the fourth floor and the oil from the transformer was on fire and the power was cut off and we extinguished the fire,” Bridgeport Assistant Fire Chief Mike Davis told WTVM.
Davis said the man who was shocked was in critical condition. Meanwhile, the four others were treated and released from the hospital.
