A 33-year-old man was in serious condition Monday afternoon after suffering an electric shock while working on a light fixture in the loading dock area outside the JCPenney department store at the Orland Square Mall in Illinois.
According to the Chicago Tribune, the man was standing atop a tractor-trailer while performing maintenance work on the light structure above him and suffered severe burns to his extremities and face.
Firefighters and medics responded to the scene and, after ensuring there were no live wires that posed any harm, went up to stabilize the victim.
It was not clear whether the man was a store employee or exactly what he was attempting to do when he was shocked.
