NAFE Winter 2014 Event Emphasizes Education Opportunities

Jan. 11, 2014
Day two of winter conference kicks off educational presentations

The second day of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE) conference, held Jan. 10-12 at the Renaissance Charleston Historical District Hotel in Charleston, S.C., focused on educational seminars.

Starting off with a roundtable discussion, followed by opening remarks from retiring Executive Director Marvin M. Specter, the group heard from several members, including forensic presentations on ATV accidents, low-speed collisions, depressurization-induced product re-entry, failure of an elevated walkway, impacts to the adult and pediatric head, analysis of a campus-wide steam loop failure, tests for fire origin from prefabricated fireplace/chimney, and investigation of a police shooting.

2014 NAFE Board of Directors were installed at the annual winter meeting in Charleston, S.C.

In addition to the continued education opportunities, the group heard a report on NAFE activities by outgoing President Paul R. Stephens, P.E., followed by a few words from new incoming President Ross Curtis, P.E. Installation of 2014 board of directors also took place (see Photo), conducted by Past President Lindley Manning, P.E.
