NEC guidelines on grounding requirements for switches
When grounding a switch contained within a non-metallic box, what is an acceptable method for making the connection? The switch has a metal yoke.
A. A wiring method that provides an equipment grounding conductor.
B. A wiring method that includes an equipment grounding conductor.
C. A or B
D. An external bonding jumper to connect the switch yoke to any nearby grounding electrode or grounded surface.
Answer: C
Article 404 covers switches. As noted in the second paragraph of 404.12, "… a wiring method that provides or includes an equipment grounding conductor" is acceptable.
