Focus on Test and Measurement

New product spotlight on test and measurement equipment for electrical contractors, electrical engineers, and plant facility personnel

Clamp meter

The 61- 920 Series ground resistance clamp meter provides measurement of ground rod resistance from 0.01 ohms to 1,200 ohms — and for the direct measurement of ground leakage current up to 30A without the need for auxiliary ground spikes. Features include an oversized jaw to accommodate cable or rods up to 1.25 in. (1,000 MCM cable), backlit LCD, large internal memory, auto power off, noise check, and data hold. In addition, the device is safety rated to CATIII 300V.

Multimeters

The 27 II and 28 II digital multimeters are IP 67-rated for water and dust resistance and offer an extended operating temperature range of -15°C to +55°C. According to the company, the meters will function in -40°C weather for up to 20 min. The products also will operate in 95% humidity and are designed and tested to withstand a 3-m (10-ft) drop. Additional features include the ability to measure up to 1,000VAC and 1,000VDC and up to 10A (20A for 30 sec); 10,000-µF capacitance range; protective yellow holsters that allow the meters to float in fresh or saltwater; backlit keypad buttons; large display digits; and 2-level bright white display backlighting.

Voltage detector

This telescoping AC voltage detector offers noncontact detection of AC voltage up to 1,000VAC (50/60Hz). Measuring 7.7 in. × 2.4 in. × 1.2 in. and weighing 5.2 oz, the detector's telescoping probe extends to 39 in. (1 m). Other features include red and green LED indicators, switch-controlled on/off audible beeper, and two LR44 button batteries.

Megohmmeter

The Model 6505 megohmmeter is a portable instrument housed in a rugged field case. Able to operate on either battery or line power, the meter performs voltage, insulation, and capacitance measurements. Insulation resistances up to 10,000 gigaohms (10T) can be measured, and test voltages from 40V to 5,100V can be selected. Features include automatic calculation and presentation of the dielectric absorption ratio (DAR) and polarization index (PI). In addition, the product displays the test voltage, insulation resistance, and the leakage current during the test. Capacitance of the sample and discharge voltage present at the test leads is displayed at the conclusion of the test.
