New Line of Hand Tools, Testers and Meters

July 18, 2013
Southwire offers new line of professional-grade tools.
This full line of professional-grade tools includes pliers, strippers, screwdrivers
and electrical meters and testers. The Electrician's Tools line is an extension of the company's current offering of a variety of wire and cable products and contractor equipment offered under the Maxis Contractor Equipment brand.

The hand tools line covers approximately 120 products, including long nose pliers, linesman pliers, cutting pliers, cable cutters, crimpers/strippers, pump pliers, fish tapes, screw drivers and nut drivers. The pliers feature drop forged CrV steel construction; high-leverage, hot riveted pivot joints; case hardened cutting blades; double-molded comfort grips; cross-hatched gripping jaws; and laser etched markings. The wire strippers feature precision milled stainless steel construction; double-molded plastic grips; laser etched wire gauges; and a plier nose. Most SKUs feature shearing/threading and wire looping holes, as well. The screwdrivers and nutdrivers feature chrome-plated steel shanks and cushioned grips.

The meters and testers line includes approximately 40 products, including multimeters, clamp meters, voltage testers, IR thermometers and borescopes. The multimeters are IP67 rated and offer a 1,000V input overload protection rating, temperature measurement capability and rugged double-molded housings. The 31040S infrared thermometer is built on dual laser technology, is temperature rated from -58°F to 1,500°F and features a 20-to-1 distance-to-spot ratio. It also comes in a double-molded housing. The non-contact voltage detectors are equipped with LED flashlights and offer a 600VAC CAT IV safety rating. The contact voltage detectors provide continuity and relative voltage detection indications up to 600VAC and 400VDC, and feature CAT III 600V safety ratings. The borescope features a pistol grip; 2.4 in. color TFT LCD display (320 x 240 pixels); 17 mm waterproof camera (IP67 rated); bright LED lamps with dimmer; and a flexible gooseneck that retains its shape.
