The Electrician is portable tester that verifies critical power and safety requirements of electric vehicle (EV) chargers. Small enough to fit in a user’s tool box, the tester simulates an EV’s J1772 receptacle
, and the unit's microprocessor employs switch-activated controls to test a charger’s voltage, power transmission, and overall operation. The device also checks ground fault, pilot, and pulse-width to confirm these features are functioning properly. Additional tests performed include the measurement of incoming line voltage from 1VAC to 250VAC and measurement of incoming pilot signal amplitude up to ±15VDC with 0.1% accuracy.
