All but which of the following methods are permitted to guard live parts from accidental contact? Assume the nominal voltage of the system is 600V or less.
- By elevation of 8 ft or more above the floor or other working space.
- By location on a suitable balcony, gallery, or platform elevated and arranged so as to exclude unqualified persons.
- By wearing Level 1 to 4 flame resistant clothing and using equipment appropriate for the hazard/risk category based on Table 130.7(C)(9) & (10) of NFPA 70E – 2009.
- By location in a room, vault, or similar enclosure that is accessible only to qualified persons.
As per 110.27(A) of the 2008 NEC, there are four options available to protect persons from making accidental contact with energized live parts. The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is not one of the four choices.
