Powerware Corporation Awarded Major FAA Support Contract New agreement gives Powerware customers options to integrate battery-free technology

RALEIGH, N.C. (September 11, 2001) — Powerware Corporation, part of Invensys, plc has been awarded a Contractor Depot Logistics Support contract (CDLS) by the U.S. Government Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This sole source contract represents a new award that follows on from the original CDLS contract awarded to Exide Electronics Group Inc. (now operating as Powerware Corporation) on July 9, 1996. The one-year contract awarded by the FAA, with four one-year extendable options, is estimated at a potential cumulative value of $16 million.

Powerware provides inventory, spare parts and logistics support for 25 Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCC) throughout the United States. The Powerware Depot purchases and manages centralized parts inventories and services from 150 vendors to satisfy the FAA’s critical power requirements.

“This sole source award is a validation of the Powerware operating model in support of the FAA’s requirements,” said Rick Marcotte, vice president and general manager of the Powerware Federal Systems Division. “We have demonstrated our commitment to the FAA by implementing the depot infrastructure and business processes required to keep these very mission critical sites up and running 100 percent of the time.”

Based on current contract awards, Powerware is the largest UPS supplier to the government marketplace, and is recognized for providing the highest quality products and services to some of the most critical and classified operations in the world.
