Fort Smith, Ark.-based Baldor Electric Co. recently completed a new motor manufacturing plant in Columbus, Miss., and the expansion of its Oshkosh, Wis. generator plant. The 350,000-square-feet Columbus facility is double the size of the old plant and will take care of increasing customer demand for cast iron motors from 15 hp through 350 hp.

Oslo, Norway-based Renewable Energy Corp. (REC) recently started construction on a $600 million production facility for solar-grade polysilicon in Moses Lake, Wash. The plant will nearly double the company’s polysilicon production capacity, adding 6,500 metric tons to bring RER’s total capacity to nearly 13,000 metric tons.
