• Fort Smith, Ark.-based Baldor Electric Co. recently completed a new motor manufacturing plant in Columbus, Miss., and the expansion of its Oshkosh, Wis. generator plant. The 350,000-square-feet Columbus facility is double the size of the old plant and will take care of increasing customer demand for cast iron motors from 15 hp through 350 hp.
  • In October, Manchester, N.H.-based Hitachi Cable Manchester, manufacturer of flat and round electronic cable and copper- and fiber-optic communication cables, will celebrate its 20th anniversary. It’s latest product, the Supra 10G, a UTP 10Gb Ethernet cable, is now available through distributors.
  • Oslo, Norway-based Renewable Energy Corp. (REC) recently started construction on a $600 million production facility for solar-grade polysilicon in Moses Lake, Wash. The plant will nearly double the company’s polysilicon production capacity, adding 6,500 metric tons to bring RER’s total capacity to nearly 13,000 metric tons.
