Large electrical utility customers strive to reduce their electrical utility bill. One common way of doing this is to reduce the peak kVA demand by correcting the system power factor. While this works well where electrical harmonic-producing loads are connected to the electrical system the installation of power factor correction capacitors can cause both overvoltage and overcurrent failures. Preventing these costly failures while correcting the system power factor must be done in an exacting manner that is detailed in this book. This book highlights the design items to be considered, provides explanations, and gives many worked out examples of types of design problems that must be considered.
