Invensys Powerware Announces the Availability of PowerVision V3.0

Invensys Powerware is now shipping V3.0 of PowerVisionâ. PowerVision is a Windowsâ-based client/server software package that provides real-time monitoring of critical power conditions for the entire enterprise. The new version of software will be featured in Booth #22546 at Supercomm in Atlanta, Georgia on June 4-6, 2002. The software now features a fully integrated, operating system shutdown capability.

Raleigh, NC (June 4, 2002) – Invensys Powerware is now shipping V3.0 of PowerVisionâ. PowerVision is a Windowsâ-based client/server software package that provides real-time monitoring of critical power conditions for the entire enterprise. The new version of software will be featured in Booth #22546 at Supercomm in Atlanta, Georgia on June 4-6, 2002. The software now features a fully integrated, operating system shutdown capability.

The new optional shutdown capability supports Powerware Uninterruptible Power Systems (UPSs) and provides unattended, network-wide, graceful shutdown of computers to protect data in the event of an extended power failure. Through its scalable architecture, a multi-server configuration of PowerVision can monitor up to 256 UPSs and provide vital shutdown functionality for multiple servers powered by each UPS.

The initial release of the shutdown feature supports many popular operating systems including Microsoftâ Windows 98 and Me; Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, 2000 and XP; Novellâ NetWareâ IBMâ AIX 4.2â; Sunä Solarisä; HP-UX; and, Linux.

The new shutdown feature is priced at $750 per PowerVision server. The shutdown agent, which is the software component residing locally on the critical server, is provided free of charge.

PowerVision supports UPSs ranging from the 1 KVA to 750 KVA. All the compatible UPS models, including technologically advanced UPSs like the Powerware 9315 Hot Sync Parallel Redundant UPS, can be monitored through detailed views that allow users to drill-down to isolate and analyze power problems. Alarm/Message Management features such as paging and email provide rapid notification of problems and speed corrective action by appropriate personnel. Chronic power problems can be investigated using an array of data trend analysis and reporting tools.
