WEST KINGSTON, R.I. – June 4, 2002 – American Power Conversion (APC) introduces today the complete line of TSP (Total Solution Power) products. These outdoor power systems are deployed in coaxial cable TV, hybrid fiber/coax broadband, and other multiservice broadband networks. These products offer a true modular design that incorporates a transformer module and an electronics module allowing for easier installation and serviceability. Upward migration from a non-standby to a full featured, standby uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is easily achieved with the addition of an electronics module and batteries. The TSP product line rounds out APC’s ability to offer a complete end-to-end powering solution for our broadband customers. APC has provided power protection solutions for the cable headend with the APC PowerStruXure™, Silcon® UPSs, DC-Power systems, and Network Air™. In addition, customers have relied upon the PowerShield™ for protection of their customer premise equipment. With APC’s new TSP line, the networked power niche now has a comprehensive solution. Available accessories to the TSP product line include an 8kW AC enclosed generator, and centralized and distributed universal outdoor enclosures. “One of the distinctive features of the TSP product is the modularity, making it the perfect unit for migration strategies,” said Ed Bednarcik, vice president of APC’s Business Networks Group. “The transformer module can be deployed as a stand alone power supply in an enclosure for non-critical services and upgraded with the electronics module and batteries when broadband traffic is present and UPS power is required.” The unit can be deployed in 120VAC, 60 Hz, 240VAC, 60Hz or 230VAC, 50Hz applications. The TSP modules can be shelf mounted into any of APC's universal enclosures, or easily adapted for non-APC enclosures. With state-of-the-art battery charging and built-in microprocessor, it constantly monitors battery requirements, and provides adequate recharge current. The electronics module is insulated from damaging heat as it is designed for 158 degrees F (70 degrees C) continuous duty operation, and therefore does not require a cooling fan.
