Atlanta-based Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. donated a home control system to the BASF Near-Zero Energy Home project currently on display in Paterson, N.J. The home, which showcases energy-conservation building practices and technologies, is 80% more energy efficient than conventionally built homes.

The home control system donated by Siemens, which includes a smoke alarm and fire protection, energy management (HVAC control), lighting, and appliance control, has built-in telephone access and optional Internet access, allowing homeowners to control their system in or away from the home.
