The National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC), a program of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Washington, D.C., and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), Bethesda, Md., recently launched a new education and scholarship initiative created in conjunction with Northbrook, Ill.-based Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL). Under the program, UL has pledged a total of $100,000 in scholarship funds to be awarded to union electrical apprentices around the nation over the next five years.

The list of recipients of the scholarships will be co-determined by a committee of UL and NJATC members and will be announced in the fall of 2007.
