- Florida’s Polk County Public Schools recently awarded Terry's
Electric, Inc., Orlando, Fla., a $2.9 million electrical contract for a
new multimillion-dollar AA middle school in Poinciana, Fla. M.M. Parrish
Construction Co. is general contractor for the 195,000-square-foot project,
which is slated for completion in July 2007.
- Border States Supply Chain Solutions (BSE) recently recognized Manchester, N.H.-based FCI-USA, Inc.as 2005 Supplier of the Year. The award was given to the company for BSE’s northeast and southwest regions based on work ethic, profit growth, training programs, market development, and technical support.
- Effective June 1,
Memphis, Tenn.-based Ellers, Oakley, Chester & Rike, Inc. (EOCR) — a
subsidiary of Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. (SSR), Nashville, Tenn. — has changed
its name to SSR Ellers, Inc. The company believes the new identity more accurately reflects EOCR's
relationship with SSR.

- Harris Consulting Engineers, based in Las Vegas, recently announced the creation of a new lighting design department, offering architectural lighting design services to complement the firm’s existing electrical engineering services.
- Color Kinetics, a Boston-based developer of LED lighting systems and technologies, has been awarded approximately $1.7 million by the U.S. Department of Energy to develop an LED-based alternative to incandescent lamps for general illumination.
- Philips Lighting, based in Somerset, N.J., has appointed K.R. (Kaj) den Daas to the position of CEO of Philips Lighting Co., N.A., the U.S.-based lighting company affiliated with the European electronics company Royal Philips Electronics.
