Jacobs Providing Engineering Services for Metro's Central Mesa Light Rail Extension

The Central Mesa project is a 3.1-mile extension from the current light rail end-of-line

Pasadena, Calif.-based Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. recently announced that it was awarded an engineering services contract by Valley Metro Rail, Inc. (Metro) for the Central Mesa Light Rail Extension project. Jacobs will provide both preliminary and final engineering services for the Mesa, Ariz.-based light rail project.

The contract amount is $12.5 million.

The Central Mesa project is a 3.1-mile extension on Main Street from the current light rail end-of-line at Sycamore, through downtown Mesa to Mesa Drive. Collectively, Jacobs' services should take approximately two years to complete and will be followed shortly thereafter by construction. The extension is scheduled for completion in 2016.

In making the announcement, Jacobs Group VP Robert Clement stated, "Jacobs is very pleased to be involved in the Central Mesa Light Rail Extension project and proud to support Metro's overall efforts to improve transit in the greater Phoenix area."
