  • S&C Electric, Chicago, recently broke ground on the company’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC) at the John R. Conrad Industrial Complex, S&C’s headquarters location in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The testing laboratory at the heart of the new building will include two 850MW electrical short-circuit test generators and six transformers and will operate at up to 230,000V.

  • Aurora, Ohio-based TCP, manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting products, recently expanded its portfolio of lighting innovations with the introduction of ecoVations, the company's specification fixture division. EcoVations, which includes a network of independent lighting agents throughout North America, offers a unique line of energy efficient architectural suspended hybrid fixtures, select decorative and outdoor fixtures, LED lighting fixtures and linear fluorescent fixtures, including the first lamp, ballast and fixture combination for lighting specifiers and designers in residential, commercial and industrial applications.

  • Norwalk, Conn.-based EMCOR Group, recently announced that its Dynalectric and University Mechanical & Engineering Contractors (UMEC) subsidiaries have been awarded contracts to provide the entire electrical and mechanical infrastructure for the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Medical Center’s new 128,000 square-foot Sulpizio Family Cardiovascular Center, consisting of a new 4-story structure with two interstitial floors. Dynalectric will provide all electrical systems for the facility including those for its fire alarm safety system, nurse call center, and security and telecommunications and systems. UMEC will provide the HVAC, including air handlers that deliver over 200,000 cfm, and plumbing systems for the Sulpizio Family Cardiovascular Center.
