Business Briefs for the Week of June 22, 2009

  • Onset Computer Corp., Bourne, Mass., has received a large order from TAC by Schneider Electric, Carrollton, Texas, for its HOBO U30 energy-monitoring systems. The systems, which will be used as part of an investment-grade energy audit (IGA) of several buildings at a North Carolina university, will collect detailed building performance data around-the-clock for the duration of the IGA and during construction.

  • EMCOR Group Norwalk, Conn., reported that its Salt Lake City-based subsidiary, Wasatch Electric, has received a contract for the installation of the electrical systems involved in the construction of the new Utah Museum of Natural History, Salt Lake City. Wasatch Electric will be responsible for the installation of all building systems, including fire alarm, smoke control, VESDA, and audiovisual systems, in addition to extensive duct banks and underground vaults for the high-voltage system that also includes a 1500kW generator for emergency power.

  • SolarCity, Foster City, Calif., and U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation (USBCDC), Minneapolis, recently formed a new partnership to finance solar projects for U.S. homeowners and businesses. The two companies have created a new tax equity fund to finance SolarCity’s solar lease option, SolarLease, for homeowners and power purchase agreements (PPA) for businesses.
