The Connecticut Development Authority recently approved a $4 million loan for FuelCell Energy, Danbury, Conn., to expand its plant in Torrington, Conn., and add 100 jobs. The manufacturer will use the loan as part of a $10-million project to enlarge its facility in anticipation of an expected surge in demand for fuel cells.
Clear Skies Holdings, New York, recently announced an agreement with Hawthorne Machinery to install a solar energy system at Hawthorne’s 25-acre headquarters in Rancho Bernardo, Calif. Under the agreement, Clear Skies will install a 159kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system designed to offset the majority of buidings’ current energy usage charges.
