  • The Connecticut Development Authority recently approved a $4 million loan for FuelCell Energy, Danbury, Conn., to expand its plant in Torrington, Conn., and add 100 jobs. The manufacturer will use the loan as part of a $10-million project to enlarge its facility in anticipation of an expected surge in demand for fuel cells.
  • Clear Skies Holdings, New York, recently announced an agreement with Hawthorne Machinery to install a solar energy system at Hawthorne’s 25-acre headquarters in Rancho Bernardo, Calif. Under the agreement, Clear Skies will install a 159kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system designed to offset the majority of buidings’ current energy usage charges.
  • Chico, Calif.-based Chico Electric has finished the first phase of a two phase installation of a 1.3MW solar system at the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, Calif. Mitsubishi Electric is providing 6,800 of its 185Wp corrosion-resistant modules for the project.
