  • Cleveland-based GE Consumer & Industrial recently joined The Green Grid, a global consortium of more than 80 high–tech equipment companies. GE plans to work closely with other members of the association to develop meaningful operating standards, metrics, and technologies to improve the energy efficiency and performance of data centers and computing ecosystems.
  • Highland Heights, Ken.-based General Cable Corp. recently agreed to acquire the global wire and cable business of FreeportMcMoRan Copper & Gold, Inc., which operates as Phelps Dodge International Corp. The purchase price is approximately $735 million.
  • New Milford, Conn.-based Glacier Computer was recently ranked No. 3,565 by Inc., New York, in the magazine’s list of the 5,000 fastest-growing private companies in the country. Glacier Computer, a leading designer, developer, and supplier of rugged computers, including rugged laptops and rugged tablet computers, has experienced 81.7% growth over the past three years.
