  • Albany, N.Y.-based EYP Mission Critical Facilities (EYP MCF) was the design lead for the recently completed Computational Center for Nanotechnology Innovations (CCNI) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y. The new supercomputing center focuses on reducing the time and costs associated with designing and manufacturing nanoscale materials, devices and systems.
  • Independence, Ohio-based Avtron has moved its load bank division and fabrication center into two new production facilities in Cuyahoga County. Together the two new facilities increase production space more than 46% over the old plant in Cleveland.
  • FuelCell Energy, Inc., Danbury, Conn., recently announced approval to scale up a product that separates hydrogen from a gas mixture while generating electricity. The Electrochemical Hydrogen Separation (EHS) system, developed for the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL), enables the pure, extracted gas to be sold as fuel for hydrogen vehicles or for industrial uses.
  • Los Angeles-based Prudential Lighting Products (PLP) will be the first exclusive sales representative for commercial lighting systems manufactured by Westlake Village, Calif.-based Journée Lighting, Inc. “We're extremely pleased to be represented by Prudential Lighting Products in Southern California as they truly embrace our LED-based product line,” says Nate Quan, vice president, sales and operations, Journée Lighting.
  • The Shaw Group Inc., Baton Rouge, La., was recently awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction contract by Duke Energy Carolinas, a unit of Duke Energy, as part of the Cliffside modernization project, to build an 800MW supercritical coal-fired electric generating plant and a flue gas desulfurization system at Duke’s existing Cliffside Steam Station in Rutherford and Cleveland counties, N.C. The value of Shaw’s EPC contract is valued at approximately $1.29 billion.
