Q. What’s the maximum number of circuit breakers permitted to be installed in a panel?
A. The maximum number of circuit breakers permitted in a panelboard is limited by the instructions posted inside the panelboard [110.3(B)]. In addition, 408.15 specifies that a lighting and appliance panelboard, as defined in 408.14(A), isn’t permitted to have more than 42 overcurrent devices installed in any one cabinet.
