Q. In our local high school science lab, receptacles have been installed within 4 in. from the edge of a sink. Is this acceptable per the Code?
A. Yes, as long as they are GFCI protected. As per 210.8(B)(5), all 15A and 20A, 125V receptacles installed within 6 ft of the outside edge of a sink must be GFCI protected.
