What’s new at BICSI?

BICSI introduces new residential cabling installation course and prepares for annual telecommunications conference.

The industry’s international telecommunications association, BICSI, recently announced a new cabling installation course designed for the cabling contractor who provides installation in single or multifamily residences. RES100: Residential Cabling is based on ANSI/EIA/TIA-570-A and other applicable ANSI/TIA/EIA telecommunications standards, the National Electrical Code, IEEE, and ANSI/EIA documents. Students will learn proper termination techniques for copper, fiber, and coaxial cabling, as well as installation practices for ancillary and peripheral equipment, including protection devices, UPS and surge protection, and proper testing techniques. The three -day course is $795 per student (with an eight-student minimum), and will be available for on-site training in April 2000.

If you’re interested in learning the latest in voice, data, and video technology, join 3,000 telecommunications professionals at the industry’s most talked about event of the new century—the annual BICSI Winter Conference on Jan. 17-20 in Orlando at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort. Fourteen technical presentations on topics related to the telecommunications infrastructure and end-user applications are scheduled. The fee for the winter conference is $295 for current BICSI members and $345 for nonmembers who register before Jan. 4. Members registering after Jan. 4 will be charged $325, and nonmembers will pay $375.

For details on either of these events, contact BICSI at 8610 Hidden River Pkwy., Tampa, Fla. 33637-1000; phone: (800) 242-7405 or (813) 979-1991; fax: (813) 971-4311; e-mail: bicsi@bicsi.org; or visit: www.bicsi.org.
