Utility truck bodies satisfy installation, maintenance, and repair needs
Reaching two million electric gas customers throughout a 24,000-square-mile territory across New York State, Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., Syracuse, N.Y., requires a truck fleet with top-of-the-line equipment.
After deciding to replace 50 vehicles in its fleet of 5000, Niagara Mohawk chose utility line bodies equipped with aerial devices. Operated by the Transmission and Distribution Line Department, workers use these utility bodies for installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical distribution lines.
The units offer many customized features including a platform extension with thru-shelf, ladder rack with rollers, and a spring loaded latch for easy release, as well as a special compartment housing a generator. Niagara also opted for an all-aluminum chock block holder and masterlocking.
Standard features include two-sided zinc-coated A60 galvannealed steel construction. All bodies receive immersion priming providing rust/corrosion protection. Double-paneled compartment doors and stainless steel bolt-on hinges ensure strength and smooth operation in all weather conditions.
