Electrical Contractor Employment Up
Electrical contractor employment for June 2000 stood at 675,900. That was up 1.6% from the month before, and up 6.7% from the same month a year ago. The hourly wage, at $20.06 in June, was up 4.6% from a year ago. The data comes from the U.S. Labor Department's Bureau of Labor Statistics.

OSHA's Final Self-Audit Policy
OSHA recently announced a final policy on voluntary employer self-audits. It will not routinely request results of safety audits conducted by employers or third parties. It agreed to a 25% penalty reduction for violations identified by the audit and addressed at the time of inspection. OSHA will continue to demand audit results to determine violations.
