NEMA's Industrial Control Business Index on the Rise

The shipment of industrial control equipment and adjustable speed drives showed a moderate improvement in the second quarter of 2003. NEMA reported that its Primary Industrial Control and Adjustable Speed Drives Index rose two points to 95.6, but is still 5% below the 2002 level. The index tracks U.S. shipments for motor starters, contactors, terminal blocks, control circuit devices, motor control centers, sensors, programmable controllers, and adjustable speed drive systems. NEMA collects the monthly sales information from its members, which are the major industrial control manufacturers in the United States. The data represents more than 90% of U.S. sales of this equipment.
